All participants will have to check in using the QR code, have temperature taken and must have their face masks on at all times in the studio.
Botanical dyeing was the only way to colour natural fibres until the mid 19th century when synthetic dyes were discovered. Since then, natural dyeing has taken a step back as people opt for the faster, more cost efficient synthetic dyes.
In this full day masterclass where you will learn how to get started and become a natural dyer in your very own kitchen. This class is designed especially for beginner dyers. I will teach and show you how to get started on naturally dyeing at home.
• Fibre and dyestuff selection
• Scouring and preparation of fibre for dyeing
• Mordanting with plant mordant for protein and cellulose fibres
• Preparation of dyebaths
