Indigo Dye Your Own Clothes Workshop

We highly encourage you to look in your wardrobe when picking clothes to be dyed, they don't necessarily need to be white, they could even be an old favourite that sadly got stained with red wine or discoloured in the wash. Light colour clothing can possibly dye an interesting effect with indigo too. Come with an open mind and most importantly have fun in our experience class.

Participants are to bring ONE item (prewashed without softener) of choice for this workshop. For those who does not have anything to bring, you can purchase a ready to dye cotton-linen scarf from us at $30.

Most ideal items to dye are clothing that can lay flat and with very little detail, pleats/pockets/collars are not recommended as they require more experience and time to prepare for dyeing. Good examples include: • round or v-neck t-shirt • baby onesies • tea towel.

This workshop is kid-friendly. Children 5 years old and above can join workshop with a participating adult.

THINGS TO NOTE

• Please check the fibre content of your clothing. It needs to contain at least 80% natural fibre (eg. 90% cotton 10% elastane is fine). Synthetic fibres cannot be dyed with natural dyes.
• We reserve the rights to reject items if they are not suitable for dyeing. No refund will be given.
• It is normal for naturally dyed products to run during the first few washes, this does not mean it is fading. They are simply excess dye sitting on the surface that was not absorbed by the fabric.
• Hand wash naturally dyed clothing and dry in a well ventilated, shaded spot.
