Learn to design and carve your own block printing stamps in our cosy little textile studio!
In this 3 hour class, you will learn the concept of linocut, design considerations and carve your design on a rubber block (recommended for beginners) and of course fabric printing techniques. You will carve a repeatable unit and create seamless prints on a fat ½ yard of khadi cotton. With simple sewing skills, you can turn your block printed fabric into a small bag, cushion covers or simply use it to wrap your freshly baked bread by trimming the edges with a pair of pinking shears.
We will help guide and encourage you to design your own motif! Print seamless patterns or random repeats, pair different colours to create your very own colour scheme – think 2-3 complementary colours that goes together or if you're feeling adventurous go for contrasting schemes and make a statement!
At the end of the class, you'll bring home your completed hand block printed fabric as well as your handcarved stamp for more printing fun. All tools, supplies, materials and light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop is not suitable for children below 12 years old as there are sharp tools used, perfect for all adults. No experience is required. Each workshop is capped at a maximum of 4 participants.
